My approach to classical dressage training owes much to the years I studied with Nuno Oliveira in the early 1980s. In addition to over five thousand hours of tuition from Nuno, the opportunity to observe him schooling his own horses gave me a unique insight into the subtle methods he used to such powerful effect I work systematically with my clients and.my teaching style is calm, patient and sincere in order to to establish a deep, enduring bond between horse and rider. When needed, I take them right back to basics, as I know from experience that the smallest adjustments in technique can make a huge difference in performance.
I live and breathe horses and have done since I was a small child. Whenever I could, I was in the saddle. When I wasn’t riding, I used to read about horses, think about them, and draw them. |
There was never any question about what I wanted to do in life; after full-time education I persuaded my parents to let me take my BHS examinations, achieving both Assistant Instructor and Intermediate Instructor qualifications. For the latter, I had the good fortune to train with the late Harry Douglas at Patchetts Equestrian Centre in Hertfordshire, one of the most prestigious training, show and livery centres in the UK.

This was an incredibly formative time in my life, as I then had the opportunity to train with the great Portuguese riding master, Nuno Oliveira. I left for Portugal with just two weeks’ notice and my three years in training there was a life-enhancing experience.
After returning to the UK, I continued to spend time furthering my knowledge and understanding of classical dressage and riding with my horse, Alex. During this time I trained my first students, developing their skills up to and including Grand Prix level.
I love every minute of my work, helping hundreds of horses and riders reach their full potential. Classical dressage remains my great passion and passing on my experience to dedicated riders is truly one of the highlights of my work.
